VC Investments Gone Mobile
With the JOBS Act & state laws anybody can invest in startups. As a result thousands of companies are raising billions of dollars via Investment Crowdfunding from both accredited and non-accredited investors.
Federal laws such as Regulation Crowdfunding (CF)
allow for raises up to $1,070,000
and startups can leverage Regulation A+ ("mini-IPO")
to raise up to $50MM. NC PACES
allows NC companies to raise up to $2MM.
Value Hack: With the lack of seed capital, some startups are using the cumulative Reg CF funds from multiple people investing as little as $100 each as a 'match' for a larger contribution (e.g. $80k) from a single angel investor. This aims to reduce all investors' risk by building in loyal customer base.
